I have finally sorted my Client/Server installation of Active Sky for Prepar3D v4. You would imagine that there would be some sort of log file which gives the installer a clue as to what has gone wrong with the installation.įinally, thanks to you both for all the help you have given me. I find it most annoying and disappointing that there appears to be no way of finding out what is wrong with mine or any other poor user's attempted Client/Server installation problem.

I cannot afford to spend any more time on the Client/Server install of P3D. It will be interesting to see their comments.įinally, I think Downscc (the other person from this forum who has responded to me) is right. Yes I did what you suggested and yes I could read the files in the FSX folder and the P3D folder.Īctive Sky have not got back to me as yet with respect to me supplying my SimConnect.XML and SimConnect.CFG files. "Can you go to your client PC, log onto your server PC and: cle/View/6 and I have been assured by the Active Sky people that the same instructions apply with respect to Active Sky and Prepar3D v4. It was a bit 'tricky' but I followed the instructions from Active Sky and all worked OK. I managed to install Active Sky 16 without many problems. Regards and many thanks to you both, Trevor FSX Client/Server was a breeze, this has been a nightmare.

I would have thought that either party would have embeded some code somewhere which would give the installer (me) a clue as to why the connection between Active Sky and Prepar3D are not communicating. What annoys and frustrates me is that Active Sky and Prepar3D don't appear to have any way of determining what the problem is.
I will give the Client/Server installation a little longer but you make some good points and I am certainly on the verge of dropping the Client/Server install altogether. Hi downscc, Thanks for your interest and comments. Alas, there were no errors reported and nothing that I could see that appeared relevant. When you say Are you using P3Dv4.5 HF2?, what is HF2įinally, there is a simconnect.ini file in C:\Users\Trevor\MyDocuments\Prepar3D v4\ which has a line file=C:\simconnect%03u.log which is a comment in the file, I removed the and reran Prepar3D v4 and Active Sky and examined the log file. I do use FSUIPC for FSX but not for P3D and have not been told anything about this by Active Sky. I may have a problem with my Windows Registry but have no way of determining this. Active Sky have been helpful but have not shone any real light on my problem so far. Yes I do realize that Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft.

There must be someone out there who has some proper knowledge of how I can do what I want? Finally, I can get this Client/Server setup for FSX but not so far with Prepar3D v4.5?įinally, I have been in contact with Active Sky who have tried to help but so far no success.Īs I don't know how to respond to each of you individually, I will address your last responses individually within one message.
My problem is which one should I run? Should I run the lot, where should I run them?, should these files be copied to my client machine and run there and if so where exactly? Now each of these directories contains an install file called SimConnect.msi which I have been told to run. There are 6 sub folders in this directory named ESPv1, FSX-RTM, FSX-RTM-JPN, FSX-SP1, FSX-SP1-RUS andFSX-SP2-XPACK respectively. Finally, I have already been directed to a bunch of files which are part of Prepar3D V4.5 (on the server machine) which reside in the directory C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\redist\Interface. I have gotten to the point where it would appear the only thing I can do is to drop the Server/Client installation and install ActiveSky for Prepar3D v4.5 on my server machine.

Now there are a miriad of supposed solutions (which don't work) but I am wondering whether anyone on the forum has an up to date system with respect to the software I am running.
Unfortunately I cannot get the two packages to connect. I have also installed ActiveSky for Prepar3D V4.5 on my client machine and Prepar3D V4.5 on my server machine. Hi, I have installed ActiveSky 16 on my client machine and have FSX on my server machine and all is working well.
